Antivirus Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ) 2011 Review

Answers to frequently asked questions about antivirus software
  1. What is the best antivirus to use?
  2. The best antivirus software is the one that works best on your system, has the features you want, and is easy for you to use. Because every system is unique, if you're shopping for new antivirus software, you should evaluate several products to find the one best suited for your PC and your level of experience. Of course, you'll want to stick with only qualified, reputable antivirus products that have received certification from the three major certification authorities: Checkmark, ICSALabs, and VB100% - and which have performed well on the rigorous tests conducted by AV-Test.org.
There is also the question of paid or free antivirus. While generally speaking, the paid antivirus offers more features that can provide more complete protection, those building an ala carte security solution may fare better with one of the free standalone antivirus scanners. For specific recommendations on best of class in their respective categories, see the following:

  1. Do we need to have both an antivirus and an anti-spyware scanner?
  2. It depends. Some antivirus products, notably McAfee VirusScan, include stellar spyware protection - but many others do not. If you are experiencing ongoing problems with spyware, you might want to consider adding a dedicated spyware scanner to the mix. For recommendations, check out these Top Spyware Scanners.
  3. Do we have to uninstall the existing antivirus program before installing a new one?
  4. If you are changing to a new antivirus product, you will need to uninstall the previous antivirus scanner first. After uninstalling, you must reboot your PC before installing the new scanner.
If you are simply upgrading the existing antivirus software to a newer version of the same product, there is no need to uninstall the older version first. However, if the new version is two or more versions newer than the old, then you will want to uninstall the old version before installing the new. Again, anytime you uninstall an existing antivirus product, be sure to reboot the computer before installing the new scanner.
  5. Can two antivirus scanners be run on the same system at the same time?
  6. It is never a good idea to run two antivirus scanners simultaneously. However, if only one of the scanners has real-time protection enabled and the second scanner is used only to manually scan selected files, they may possible co-exist peacefully. In some cases, an antivirus scanner will not install if it detects another antivirus scanner already installed on the system.
  7. Why does one scanner detect a virus but another does not?
  8. Antivirus is largely signature-based. The signatures are created by the individual vendors and are unique to their products (or the products that use those particular scanning engines. Hence one vendor may have added detection (i.e. a signature) for a particular malware while another vendor may not have.

BitDefender Antivirus 2011 Review

For 2011 BitDefender has a new and improved version of their top-selling antivirus software: BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011.

We're in the midst of our regular full tests of BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 which we're wrapping up and expect to have online for you very soon.

So far, as we expected, BitDefender is performing well in our various tests, including blocking viruses and malware threats that come from each of the different attack vectors we test with.

If BitDefender continues to perform as well in the rest of our tests as it has thus far, we believe it'll provide top-notch security protection for most any PC.

Here are some of our initial findings so you can make an informed decision.

New Features Top Features

  • Quick Scan cloud technology

  • Solid antivirus

  • Custom dashboard

  • Chat encryption

  • Anti-phishing control

  • Good root-kit detection

  • Our initial impressions with BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 are positive with only a couple of concerns. BitDefender keeps up their reputation with a thorough antivirus engine.

The new interface is customizable, professional, and easy to use. And the cloud-based Quick Scan seems to be quite effective.

On the minus side, some of the initial testing shows BitDefender's results to fluctuate depending on the environment. It's too early to say how this will effect overall performance, so further testing is required.

Despite a couple of yellow flags, BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 looks like it's going to be a tough competitor for any new antivirus software versions coming out.

And best of all you can buy an original OEM Official License Cheap from our stores! YES!!!
